It’s been a pretty decent December so far for Swallownest, back into the top ten in Toolstation NCEL Division One after a fine draw at Campion, and way and home wins to follow. On Saturday, though Selby Town defend their impressive third place when they arrive at Rotherham Road –and Swallownest Assistant Manager Joel Evans is hoping that a welcoming smile and handshake from Chairman Mick Kent is the only Christmas gift his club will be dispensing this weekend, writes Colin Muncie.
Joel told TBG that the squad are in a good place at the moment “I, Jordan Stocks, Manager and boys are really looking forward to this Saturday” he admitted “We are on a little winning run and confidence is high. We have a group of lads who know and understand the values of our club and shirt, and want to play week in, week out for it”.
That said, Joel isn’t in any way complacent ahead of the clash “We know Selby again will prove tough opposition and our lads know it will take another performance of the highest standard to come away with the three points”.
“We hope that it will be a good Christmas week”.
Manager Jordan Stocks is also optimistic of building on the positive mood around the place at the moment, but he’s equally anxious to reverse the only-goal defeat his side suffered at Richard Street at the end of October ”With Christmas approaching there is a buzz around” he told TBG “and we want to keep the feel good factor around the club at the minute” Jordan told TBG “We look to build on three great performances and results. We will be full of confidence and hopefully the lads play with that freedom and we impose ourselves on a good Selby team”.
“We played them in midweek recently and we feel we deserved something -so hopefully we right that wrong”.
