NCEL Division One side Armthorpe Welfare are delighted to announce the signing of prolific goal scorer Chris Jackson ahead of today’s game against Rossington Main.
The brother of Welfare coach Alan, Chris has returned to England after spending a year in Australia playing for Armadale Soccer Club where he was top scorer with 24 goals, sharing the Golden Boot Award in the Western Australia National Premier League
Before moving to Australia Jackson played much of the 2016/17 season and the first few months of the 2017/18 season with Pontefract Collieries and has also played for Selby Town and Goole AFC.
Manager Mike Carmody said, “I’m delighted to have Chris with us. How long that will be we’re unsure as he’s a top player at levels above this league. I’ve known Chris since he was a kid coming to watch myself and Alan play football so I know that’s gone a long way.”
“He’s recently returned from Australia where’s been playing for the last year and needs games to get back scoring, something which will come in no time with him. We hope he’s the catalyst to turn our fortunes back around.”
