Two quick fire first half goals from Chris Adams and Andy Norfolk laid the foundations for Bridlington Town’s excellent 2-1 victory at Knaresborough Town yesterday, writes Ian Robinson.
A late Gregg Anderson goal reduced the arrears but The Seasiders held on to take the three points. A delighted Manager Brett Agnew shared his thoughts with us after the game. “I’m over the moon with that result as Knaresborough are as tough a test as you will get in this league. I thought first half we took the game to them and made the more clinical decisions in the final third, but in the second half, we took our foot off the gas and they brought two decent little footballers on who got on the ball and started to dictate the game a little.
“We had two good chances to go three up but squandered them and they got their goal to make a good game of it. I thought the spine of our team were great and the rest were really hard working and that’s what wins you games. Fair play to Knaresborough, they kept at it and you can see why they are up around the top, as they have some good players and shape to their side.
“Overall, I’m delighted with the 6 points we’ve taken over the festive period against two really good sides.”
Brett signed off with a message to all our readers and watchers of NCEL football. “All the best to everyone, I hope you have an enjoyable and safe New Year, see you in 2019 for the conclusion of the season.”
