King reigns at Emley with quick fire hat trick

Ollerton Town continued their climb away from the Division One relegation zone with a fine 4-1 win at AFC Emley yesterday, writes Ian Robinson.

In a good all round team performance, there was no doubting who took star billing, as talisman Gavin King took his season’s tally to 24 thanks to a stunning hat trick in the space of just five minutes, effectively ending the game as a contest by just after quarter past 3!

We managed to grab a few words with the in form striker and he was quick to share the praise with his team mates, telling us “What an unbelievable result for us today considering we were scratching around for players like last week. At least six regular starters weren’t here, but a couple of 16 year olds played for us again and they’ve been outstanding. It’s always a hard place to play at Emley with the conditions and their style of play, but we took advantage of the wind in the first half and dug in for the second, and everyone worked really well.”

The victory moved Ollerton up to 16th place ahead of next weeks trip to league leaders Campion.
