It has been a difficult time recently for NCEL Premier Division outfit Barton Town who currently sit in 11th position following their impressive 2-1 victory yesterday at The Easy Buy Stadium against Penistone Church.
Manager David Ricardo has been very busy off the field in previous weeks, hence the lack of reports but he was not holding back this afternoon, “It’s been a difficult time over the last month for the players committee, Chairman and supporters. There’s not one reason alone why we haven’t been performing but it was imperative that we won our last two home games of the year. In all fairness the teams we have been beaten by in the last 3/4 weeks are all decent sides but I think most people involved in the club will say it was the manner of the defeats that was the most frustrating aspect.
“We have welcomed the Waudby brothers back to the club and I believe their influence was all to see in yesterday’s win against a strong Penistone side. Tom Bennett has missed the last 6 games through injury but is back within 14 days which will be a major plus. Before the game yesterday I had set a target of 40 points in the last 19 games so we have made a good start but we have another hard game against a physical Worksop side at home next Saturday.
“I would like to wish a Happy New Year to all the Barton faithful, opposing teams players, management and fans. Thank you to The Bootiful Game for all the support in 2018, it’s going to be a great end to the season for both leagues this year.”
