Third in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division, Hemsworth Miners Welfare head to sixteenth-placed Liversedge this weekend on the back of that crushing win at Athersley last weekend and with what must be close to a full–strength squad for the first time in weeks; but as Wayne Benn takes his Wells side to Cleckheaton, there isn’t a chance of any overconfidence when his players arrive at the Clayborn Ground, writes Colin Muncie.
Wayne told TBG that Hemsworth had set the bar high last week. “On Saturday we look to continue our good form when we travel to Liversedge. You don’t get many games during a season like the one last week, and it will be difficult to match that performance – but that’s what we must strive for; to play that well, if not better, in as many games as we can between now and the end of the season.”
“As I’ve said previously, we won’t allow the lads to get carried away,” Wayne warned. “We have a tough game ahead against a side who are capable of beating anyone on their day – and there can’t be any complacency from us.”
It’ll be a headache of a different sort when Wayne picks his team for the clash. “Liversedge will get all our respect,” he assured us, “and it helps to go there with six more players available than we had last week. That can only help us – but it does create a selection problem which will actually make a nice change from the team picking itself.”
“We will go there full of confidence, trying our very best to come back with all three points.”
