After fighting back from 2-0 down to grab a point at FC Bolsover last weekend, Swallownest, tenth in Toolstation NCEL Division One, welcome 17th-placed East Yorkshire Carnegie to Rotherham Road tomorrow –and, without any disrespect to the weekend’s opposition, Swal’s Assistant Manager, Joel Evans wants his squad to show the levels of performance they showed against higher ranked opponents in December – starting right away, writes Colin Muncie.
“This Saturday is a ‘must-win and I say that because I’m fed up of our inconsistency against teams below us,” Joel warned. “The lads were told at training the importance if this – and to be fair responded by putting in a very good shift.”
Swallownest were on the wrong end of a 5-2 beating at Dunswell Park at the end of November, and Joel wants to extract revenge for that comprehensive defeat. “We also owe EYC a performance after they outplayed and out fought us at their place.”
“Hopefully Saturday will be a good performance – and turnout – for everyone involved with Swallownest.”
Manager Jordan Stocks hinted at one or two changes ahead of the Carnegie clash, but he’s happy enough with the way his squad have prepared. “Tomorrow we entertain East Yorkshire Carnegie, who we owe one after our horror show at their place,” Jordan told TBG. “We are six unbeaten – but the way we trained on Tuesday shows that we are focused and want to carry the run on with maximum points.”
“We will probably look to reshuffle a few areas as a few lads deserve a start. UTS.”
