DODSWORTH felt that the Nostell squad earned all the plaudits after today’s win

Nostell Miners Welfare Joint Manager, Jason Dodsworth will be enjoying his glass of sherry this evening as his fifth-placed club are now level on points with Hallam at the business end of Toolstation NEL Division One after a comprehensive win over nineteenth-placed Harworth Colliery at the Jones and Co. recreational ground this afternoon – and Jason felt that the Nostell squad earned all the plaudits after the win.

Nostell enjoyed a 1-0 advantage at the interval in front of the crowd of 98 at Scrooby Road thanks to Tom Almond’s goal in the ninth minute. Kai Hancock doubled Welfare’s lead after 51 minutes and midfield general Adam Hayton made it three just before the hour. Hancock completed the scoring with fifteen minutes left.

“Another three points and another clean sheet,” Jason told TBG Editor Craig Kendall. “The lads were fantastic again and deserve all the praise they get. It was a heavy pitch and the wind was terrible today so it made for a scrappy game. Going against the wind in the first half we got the breakthrough with a great strike from the energetic Tom Almond and held on until half time. We came out really quickly in the second-half and got a quick couple of goals through Kai Hancock and Adam Hayton before Hancock put in the fourth with a cross.”

Jason was delighted with his side’s display at both ends of the park, but he had supportive words for Harworth. “Our defence was outstanding again, marshalled by our skipper Rhys Meynell,” Jason concluded, “and we limited them to a few chances.”

“Harworth are a hardworking team and credit to them – they never packed in. I wish them all the best.”
