Dronfield Town are one of this season’s surprise packages in NCEL Division One, currently sitting happily in 8th place with games in hand on most of the teams above them, writes Ian Robinson.
With 3 goals in his last 2 games, Chris Savage has returned to the side with a bang, and the former Hallam and Rossington striker told us he is happy to be back in the starting eleven, never mind getting his name on the score sheet.
“I’ve not played as many as I would have liked due to injuries and how well the lads have done when I’ve been out of the side, but I’ve still got a decent goals return and helped the team, so I’m happy. I just want to keep that going and doing my bit!”
“From the team’s perspective, we’re punching above our weight and there’s a real buzz around the place. We don’t fear anyone and know that on our day, we’re capable of beating anyone.”
“We just need to keep picking points up and see where it takes us. The aim is to finish in the top 10 and that isn’t going to change, and if the club can qualify for the FA cup with a zero budget, then I don’t think anyone can argue that it would be an amazing achievement!”
