FA release statement about Step 3/4 changing room fiasco

Earlier this morning we reported that up to 40 Step 3 and 4 clubs are looking at the real possibility of relegation to Step 5 if strict rules about their changing rooms at not adhered to by 31st March 2019.

“In 2014 The FA and Leagues at Step 3 & 4 gave notice to clubs that dressing room requirements would increase from 12 to 18 sq/m for player dressing rooms and 4 to 6 sq/m for match official dressing rooms, to be completed by 31 March 2018. This was later extended to 31 March 2019.

“The vast majority have achieved this, and last October non-compliant clubs were written to in order to allow some to complete the works in the close season by 31 July 2019, subject to conditions being met. They were also reminded that any remaining non-compliant clubs will be relegated.

“To help towards the cost of any required works, Clubs may wish to contact the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) who can provide grants for National League System Clubs who want to improve their facilities.

“Clubs at Steps 3 and 4 are eligible to apply for up to £150,000 in grant aid from the FSIF – minus any other FSIF grants they may have received in the last five-year period. The FSIF will provide up to 70% of any eligible costs.”
