Saturday’s game between Harworth Colliery and Armthorpe Welfare is a real “6 pointer”, writes Russell Sheppard. With Harworth Colliery sitting in the last relegation place in the league in 19th on 20 points and Armthorpe Welfare one place above them in 18th spot on 23 points.
Last Saturday brought a much needed win for The Welfare with a fantastic 1-0 away win against Winterton Rangers with Liam Radford scoring a 68th minute penalty.
Harworth haven’t played since Tuesday 15th January and they also picked up a fine 3-2 away win at Selby Town with goals from Benjamin Partridge, Mark West and Mason Barlow.
Harworth Manager Lee Needham looks forward to Saturday’s game with just 10 miles and 3 points separating the two sides. “I think Saturday’s game will be about winning individual battles on the pitch, these conditions when it’s freezing cold can be difficult but we have to apply ourselves the correct way, as I have been saying over recent weeks.”
“Every game is a battle and teams look to implement their style of play on the game and I feel Saturday will be the same. Each team will look to impose themselves within a style of play and the team that does that the best will win the game.”
“With the exception of Nostell at home over recent week I have been happy with our application and desire to win games of football. Saturday brings a fresh challenge as we are yet to play Armthorpe. I am sure they will be up for the game, so it’s up to us to do what I know we can do to win the game.”
“We have good selection problems this weekend which is a nice problem to have and with a good win last time out at Selby myself and the management team have some real decisions to make.”
