Manager Craig Denton saw his side race into a 3-nil lead by the interval. Thackley pulled one back but Sykes got his second quickly after. Thackley then got another but once again Sykes was on hand to complete his triple as Denton went home to enjoy a small glass of red.
“I’m pleased with putting the three points on the board, which is always our top priority. We came out of the box in the first half again with a really good tempo and created lots of chances. At half-time it could have been 6 or 7-nil to us. Again, reduced to ten men hindered us a little bit. It gave them a little bit of a boost when they had to and I think personally individuals for Thackley found that extra 10% and were more resilient and made it difficult for us.”
“We conceded a flukey goal really, which I don’t think was really deserved. We got a little bit sloppy, they got on a bit of a run and scored two, but we scored two in the second-half as well. We were always on top, to be honest. We had most of the possession, created a handful of chances in both halves so yes, I’m pleased.”
“We tried at the beginning of the season outlining all those little mistakes. We tinkered around with our shape a little bit. During this season we’ve played three at the back, we’ve played four so we’ve changed it around and I think when you do that it does slightly unsettle the side. In recent weeks we’ve stuck to the same script and the same players starting the game.”
“We’ve got to look at that in training to see if we can outline a few things. I’m just happy that we’re scoring that many goals. I think if you’re scoring four and five goals in the game, we’re expressing ourselves in going forward and going on the counterattack, things like that so you’ve got to take a little rough with the smooth.”
“If we can win 4-1 or 5-1 every week, you’d take that straight away!”
