It was Hashtag United’s biggest game of their short non-league career on Saturday, when they faced White Ensign, and boy did they deliver with a thumping 3-0 victory.
If you were eagle-eyed and had read our preview of the game, then you would have noticed that, if you had mentioned “The Bootiful Game” at the turnstile then you would have been admitted to the game for free!
Hashtag, playing just their 26th ever non-league game in the Eastern Senior League Division One South raced into a 3-nil lead over the second-placed White Ensign.
On 27 minutes, Neil Richmond was upended and Harry Honesty converted the requisit penalty. Then, three minutes before the break Ross Gleed skipped through the heart of the defence and slotted the ball home for their second of the afternoon.
The scoring was rounded up 60 seconds later, two minutes before the break when Honesty crossed in from the wing to Richmond who slotted it home sending the home fans wild.
Both sides had chances to extend their lead during the second-half but neither could find the back of the net, as Hashtag made it back-to-back league victories.
