Grimsby Borough Manager Daniel Barrett has told TBG that his squad, currently sitting in second place in Division One and within striking distance of the top spot, are raring to go ahead of Saturday’s trip into Nottinghamshire to face bottom side FC Bolsover who themselves are improving at a rate of knots, writes Ian Robinson.
“We trained tonight, it’s been to a really good standard lately,” said Daniel. “We have competition for places and lads wanting a shirt. We have two goalkeepers fighting for a spot and it’s certainly made training better as everyone is wanting to impress.”
The Borough Gaffer is certainly not expecting a repeat of Borough’s 10-0 victory over Bolsover in the first week of the season, adding “The game at the weekend will be 100% different to our last encounter as they have started putting some results together and have invested heavily in trying to save their season.”
“The pitch can be a factor and it’s never an easy place to go. We just go into the game with the same mindset as always and target 3 points to try and keep ourselves in a good position. It’s the same for all the teams pushing at the top, there is an upset every week and we just have to make sure it isn’t us.”
