Shock result of the day in the Premier Division was lowly Thackley’s incredible 5-0 win away at 6th placed Knaresborough Town writes Ian Robinson.
Two goals each from Adam Muller and Jack Normanton were added to by a Luke Robinson strike to claim just Thackley’s fifth win of the season, and understandably, Manager Pat McGuire was ecstatic afterwards.
“It was a good day at the office today. Its a tight, bobbly pitch at Manse Lane so we knew we wouldn’t be rolling it into midfield much, so we played some really basic football and were effective with it. We looked to hit the strikers early with quality and continued to do what brought us success. I thought we managed the game really well today and scored at vital times. Our second came as they were having a good spell and to score the 3rd after half time when they came out all guns blazing was key to earning the victory. It’s great to see the players all buzzing with the win and it was nice to see them get applauded off after the game.
“Credit to Paul Stansfield who came into our dressing room after and said well done to our lads, that was a nice touch of class. We will look to find consistency now, and we have a great showcase on Tuesday night against Bradford City’s youth team to prepare us for a tough encounter against Hemsworth next Saturday.”
The victory moved The Dennyboys up one place to 16th in the table.
