Garforth Town exited the NCEL League Cup last night on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra-time, losing out 7-6 to Staveley.
Manager Rob Hunter was pleased with his sides performance, “After the horror show on Saturday this probably summed our season up, we competed for 120 minutes at a high level, conceded our 16th penalty of the season and generally did everything we could to win the game without the luck you require in this type of game.”
“I told the lads after the game this was a million miles from the Hall Road performance and I can accept losing if the effort and attitude are at this level.
I thought Staveley were excellent by the way, a good young team who work together as a team, great respect as well with the changing rooms and dugouts exemplary.
I had a drink and a chat with their management team ‘Ward and Marshy,’ great Lads and I wish them well in the next round.”
