Before last night’s trip to Sandy Lane, Head of Media Operations at Bottesford Town Howard Pirie told TBG he was expecting a tough game against in-form Worksop Town – and he wasn’t wrong as they went down 3-1.
“The 3-1 scoreline does not reflect the possession we had tonight. Worksop play a very aggressive game and the number of free kicks we had and the number of bookings they had reflects that. It’s not sour grapes, the scoreline doesn’t lie. You cannot knock the opposition for commitment.
“They scored a penalty that was iffy at best and two headers where the lads were unmarked (our fault). One consolation is we scored goal of the game. It’s all a learning curve and we must draw positives from this game and move on. Was never going to be easy here on a weekday but as I said before the table doesn’t lie.”
