Scott Hellwell’s Winterton Rangers have ended the month of February just seven points behind the league leaders Campion, but they could only gain a point against Dronfield after being 2-0 down with 15 minutes to go. (Main photograph by Paul Tong)
Chris Savage and Stuart Hill put Dronfield two-up just before the break, but Luke Anderson and Kieren Wressell, just six minutes from time, squeezed in the equaliser.
Hellewell said, “We started the game quite bright the first 10-15 minutes. We were on the front foot and had a great chance to take the lead and then after that it was all Dronfield. They deserved to be two-up.”
“We changed a few things and managed to get back into the game from a great cross into the box. The last 15 minutes we were a different team and could have won the game. It’s frustrating how we can play like that but play so poorly on the other hand.”
“At 2-0 down I would have snatched your hands off for 2-2 but in reality I’m a little disappointed as it’s taken us nearly the full game to get going. But credit to Dronfield they are a very good team in my eyes, extremely organised and have some good players.”
