249 spectators packed into Church View Road last night and witnessed a tight 1-0 win for Bottesford Town, away at league leaders Penistone Church in the shock result of the night in the NCEL Premier Division.
Head of Media Operations at The Poachers Howard Pirie was delighted with the slim win. “I’ve been getting a bit disillusioned lately with playing well and getting beat but tonight the lads put a real shift in. From 1-11 the boys never stopped and Penistone won’t come across as big a team effort as they’ve come across tonight. Tommy Johnston – Man Of the Match. Jack Bowskin must be gutted – somebody else was better than him.”
“If we can replicate this week, in and out, we can be formidable. No puns tonight, very proud to be a Botty Boy.”
Whilst Assistant Manager, Leight Herrick, added, “I thought we were excellent tonight. Exactly the response the Manager wanted after Saturday. When you are going to the league leaders on a Wednesday night you can’t afford any passengers and tonight was a real team effort by everyone associated with Bottesford Town football club.”
