Two wins out of their last three games have finally seen Thackley start to climb the table after a topsy turvy season and Manager Pat McGuire is looking forward to today’s clash against serious promotion contenders Bridlington Town, writes Ian Robinson.
“We’ve just come through a really tough February playing two teams challenging for the title and our local rivals, plus a difficult friendly so to come out of it with two wins, a draw against Bradford City and being unfortunate not to take a point from Hemsworth, has been pleasing.
“However, I’m expecting Saturday to be even tougher against Brett’s well drilled Brid side. They’ll come here with the bit between their teeth, not just to chase promotion, but also to exact a bit of revenge for our 4-0 victory at their place. That was undoubtedly our best performance of the season and it’s been frustrating that we haven’t been able to replicate that standard consistently.
“However, we’ve looked more solid defensively this last month which is important as I always fancy us to create chances. I’m looking forward to seeing our lads battle it out this weekend. Both sides like to try to play so hopefully it’ll be a good game of football.”
