Firstly we hear the views of Manager Scott Hellewell who told us that the game went to plan. “We knew they would be a hard working, well organised team and they were. It was a pleasing performance without being spectacular and it was one of those games where we did enough to win. We had some big performances out there and I’m pleased with 1-16. It could have been a tricky contest but the lads stepped up at the crucial times and got the three points. “The games are coming thick and fast and we will look forward to Wednesday night and get prepared for another tough test against Worsbrough.”
Scorer of the opening goal Elliott Broughton echoed his Manager’s thoughts, telling us “It was a tough physical game against a decent Rossington side, they were totally different to the team we played at their place earlier in the season. I think it was important to score first and although we conceded, we showed character to hit back with an immediate reply to lead at half time. I don’t think we really got out of second gear in the second half but we controlled the game and it was a good performance from all the boys and it’s great to get all three points.
“On a personal note, it was a special goal for me today and I’d like to dedicate that to my amazing Grandad.”
It was a mixed day for the scorer of the final goal Luke Anderson who revealed that he is not giving up on the promotion dream.
“To be honest, we never really got out of second gear, but when we needed to do things well, we did. There were plenty of good moments and hard work from everyone in the squad, and it comes from wanting to play for each other.”
“I missed a penalty at 2-1 which didn’t help my team out, but we showed character to push on and get the third, which sealed it, and other results going our way makes this league as close as it could be now going into the last part of this season!”
