FROGGATT: “I want the lads to roll their sleeves up, be counted and finish off strongly!”

Handsworth Parramore exited the NCEL League Cup at the Quarter-Final stage last night as they went down 2-1 to Hemsworth MW.

Nash Connolly (28 minutes) and Adam Knight (38 minutes) got the ball rolling for Hemsworth who had a foot in the next round by half-time. The crowd of 90 fans had to wait until the 88th minute for any further net-busting action as Ellis Moore got no more than a consolation for Joint Interim Manager, Jon Froggatt’s side.

“Another frustrating evening in the League Cup. We went there with a lot of youngsters in the squad and came up against a very good, tough, energetic side and fell just short.”

“We can’t keep gifting teams goals; we seem to be doing this a lot of late and expect to score 3-4 goals to have to win games. I thought some refereeing decisions again went against us, twice in the first half we had two clear fouls on both our strikers when through on goal, not even a free kick, never mind a booking or worse.”

“They wonder why Managers get so frustrated when they can’t give clear simple decisions, having said that he was poor all night for both sides. It  was nice to get lads who haven’t had playing minutes and give first team experience to some young lads who in fairness never let us down at all.”

“Some good players for the future. We have no game Sat so it’s a nice welcome break for us to get lads back fully fit, we’ve 9 games left now this season and I want the lads to roll their sleeves up, be counted and finish off strongly. We wish Hemsworth all the best in the semi final.”
