MILLINGTON: “Our aim is still to finish in the top eight, and secure an FA Cup spot for next season!”

Dronfield Town Secretary, Mike Payne, can unplug the SatNav and hang up the van keys – for this weekend at least – as Dronfield Town return to home base on Saturday after five consecutive games on the road; and Town Manager, Chris Millington, is keen for his eighth-placed players to get back on the front foot when they welcome 17th-placed East Yorkshire Carnegie to the HE Barnes Stadium for an important Toolstation NCEL Division One clash, writes Colin Muncie.

“It will be nice to get back to playing at home on Saturday after a run of away games where we haven’t picked up the amount of points that we would have liked,” Chris admitted. “I was encouraged by the performance against Grimsby on Wednesday but we will need a different type of performance on Saturday from the lads, as we will look to be more offensive and take the game to our visitors.”

Chris being Chris, he hasn’t moderated his objectives for the end of the campaign. “We’ve got eight games left,” he reminded us, “and our aim is still to finish in the top eight, and secure an FA Cup spot for next season.”
