BRYANT: “We really have got a battle on our hands and we’ve got to dig ourselves out of it knuckle down and work hard!”

It has been a difficult few weeks since Gary Bryant took over at NCEL Division One side Shirebrook Town – having recorded just one win in his 8 games in charge, but the 30-year old is confident they will turn the corner. (Main photograph by Nigel Owen)

Yesterday they lost 3-1 to Harworth Colliery and Bryant admitted he had no complaints with the result. “The team that wanted it more on the day won. We had a few chances we couldn’t put in the back of the net especially the first-half going through 1 on 1 and the ‘keeper making a save.”

“2-0 at half-time, both headed goals and we went in at half-time and we discussed what we were going to do second-half, came out and they scored a third 40 seconds into the game. That pretty much defeated us.”

“We managed to pull a goal back at the end but obviously it wasn’t enough, now we really have got a battle on our hands and we’ve got to dig ourselves out of it knuckle down and work hard!”
