Harworth Colliery took a massive step towards securing their Division One status by beating Shirebrook Town 3-1 at Scrooby Road, a result which moves them to within five points of Armthorpe Welfare and Ollerton Town with just seven games remaining, writes Ian Robinson.
An early goal from Matt Booth was added to by Tom Mullen and Mason Barlow either side of half-time before a last minute Kieran Darby strike reduced the arrears, and understandably, Colliery Manager Craig Spink was absolutely delighted with the result which he thought was thoroughly deserved.
“We started on the front foot and and continued in the same vein throughout. At times we played some great football, and it’s always good to get the goals but it was a big disappointment to concede, as we didn’t deserve that.”
“It’s another three points gained, and we are now within touching distance of those around us ahead of the big few weeks that remain.”
Next up for Harworth is a trip to Dronfield Town next Saturday.
