Swallownest U16 take huge step to securing title

Swallownest Under-16’s took another massive step towards capturing the Division C title in the Sheffield and District Sunday League last night when they overcame an early red card to claim a 5-1 win over Swinton at Rotherham Road last night, writes Assistant Manager Darren White for the Swallownest FC Website.

Watched by a decent crowd, which included several club officials, volunteers and first team squad members, the Juniors held a 1-0 lead at the interval, but cut loose in the second half to run out comfortable winners and put the title win in sight, establishing a three-point cushion over nearest rivals Chesterfield Junior Blues, with just four games left.

Darren told the club site, “we played most of the game with ten men after what we thought was an incredibly harsh red card, but the boys worked incredibly hard against a very determined Swinton side. Clinical finishing and blistering pace from Jaden bagged him four goals, and Marshall broke through and finished well to add the fifth.” “It was a great team performance.” Next up for Darren’s squad is a crucial away clash with Chesterfield Junior Blues this Sunday, 31st March, kick off 10.30am.
