The hot topic in the House of Commons recently has been Brexit, however earlier this week the MP for Scunthorpe, Nicholas Dakin took time to celebrate the work volunteers do, and directed his comments towards NCEL Premier Division side Bottesford Town.
Dakin, a Labour Party Politician has served as the Member of Parliament for Scunthorpe for 9 years spent time at Birkdale Park with the Mayor, Glyn Williams for a disabled event held by the club. Dakin said:
Mr. Speaker. I was privileged to join Glyn Williams, Mayor of Bottesford, for an event held at Bottesford Town Football Club to celebrate the role of volunteers in the community. Can we have a debate in this House to recognise and thank all volunteers across our communities for the very strong contribution they make to our communities?
Lady MP: Well, the Honourable Gentleman raises a really important issue and I think I certainly would like to pay tribute from the Despatch Box to all those who do so much volunteering for our communities and in particular to the Mayor of Bottesford, as he said, for his contribution. And we have recently had a debate in government time because I know Honourable Members do like to seek that opportunity from time to time but I certainly will take it away and look at it again.
