Hellewell delighted as Winterton still in title race

A second half goal from Oliver Fisher-Powell earned Winterton Rangers a valuable three points as they beat 2nd placed Campion 1-0 in a hotly contested game at West Street, writes Ian Robinson.

Unsurprisingly, Rangers boss Scott Hellewell was delighted with the outcome that moved his side up a place to 4th, nine points adrift of leaders Grimsby Borough.

“It was a great win today against a very good team. You can see why they are where they are in the league. The way the game was going, whoever scored first was going to win it, and luckily that was us. We defended well and everyone bust a gut today. I’m delighted with the lads and if we can keep putting performances in like that, then we are definitely going in the right direction.

“It wasn’t only both sides that Scott heaped praise on, he was also impressed with the men in black, adding “Another mention I want to add is for the officials who were one of the best we have had all year. They let the play run and dealt with situations well.”
