RICARDO: “If I’m honest we let ourselves down…”

Barton Town were swept aside on Tuesday night 3-0 by Maltby Main on a tough and difficult night for the Swans.

Manager David Ricardo was honest in his assessment. “Tuesday night’s result was what we deserved if I’m honest. Their defensive shape was excellent and we struggled to open them up in the first-half after having the lions share of possession. In the second-half instead of continuing to do the right things we were extremely sloppy; trying things we haven’t been doing the last few weeks, which from a management team’s perspective is frustrating.”

“Full credit to Maltby who ‘old manned us with great skill’. We were going to have the week off training, however we will be back in to work on a few things and remind the guys what brings success and the areas we are good at.”

“We have set some really good standards recently; if I’m honest let ourselves down on Tuesday night, but there’s another game in 2 days time which gives the guys an opportunity to put things right – which I trust them to rise to the occasion.”
