Two teams who have come a very long way in a short time meet at Rotherham Road this Saturday, when 4th-placed Nostell Miners Welfare travel to Swallownest in Toolstation NCEL Division One – and Nostell’s Joint Manager Jason Dodsworth recognised the achievements of both his own club – and those of Jordan Stocks at Swallownest – as he set his stall out ahead of what should be a terrific game, writes Colin Muncie.
Nostell won the reverse fixture 2-0 in February in New Crofton, but Jason isn’t expecting an easy ride as he looks to build on a landmark season. “We want one big final push,” he told TBG, “but we know we need to be at our best as Swallownest is a very difficult place to go. We have five games to go and then we will see where we finish. We will be looking to take Wednesday night’s second-half performance (that 2-0 win over Skegness Town) into Saturday’s game and hopefully come away with a win.”
“Jordan Stocks is doing a great job at Swallownest,” Jason acknowledged. “They have got to the League Cup Semi-Final, sit 11th in the League and, I am sure, he will want them to finish in the top 10 – which will be a decent season.”
Reflecting on their tremendous unbeaten record since the turn of the year, Jason is more than happy with the progress of the club. “We’ve created a hard-to-beat habit and it will be nice to continue that, as we’ve created a bit of history at the club by getting more points in the NCEL than any Nostell team has done in previous seasons.”
“Our players deserve a lot of credit for that.”
