Sibson left frustrated as Ammers let in late equaliser

An injury time equaliser from Jordan Turner snatched two points away from Yorkshire Amateur who had led for much of their game at Maltby Main thanks to a Fernando Moke spot kick, writes Ian Robinson, and in his post match interview with the media, Ammies Manager Neil Sibson spoke firstly of a disappointed dressing room, but went on to praise his side’s performance.

“The lads were deflated for a while in the changing rooms after the game and I can fully understand their frustration, as immediately after the game, I felt the same way, the same feeling as a loss, but reflecting on the game afterwards I’ve nothing but praise for our lads today.”

“We have the best home form in the Division but on the road we seem to have struggled and today could have been more of the same against a good side on probably the worst pitch in both NCEL Divisions not to mention the slope! We had to contend with all of this and against the team with the best defence in the league.”

“Today I thought we were fantastic all through the team, we tweaked the formation to try enable us to get the very best from the lads on the pitch and we nearly came away with the perfect performance. Maltby scored on 90+3 minutes and the scoreline doesn’t lie, but if I’m totally honest, they got out of jail and well done to them for persevering but the game could and should have been put to bed.”

“The reason that didn’t happen was the great performance from their young ‘keeper who deservedly gets their Man of the Match award.”

“Overall we have to be very happy with the performance and if we can continue with the same levels for the rest of the season – I will be very pleased.”

“We scored a last minute winner two weeks ago and did the same away at Handsworth so it evens itself out throughout the season, and today it’s happened to us albeit for a draw. We will take a good point away at Maltby and move on to next week but the pleasing factor is we put in a very mature performance today which will only make us better going forward.”

“I would just like to add it was a pleasure down at Maltby today with a good set of lads and Management team, they were a credit to their club, well done to all at the Main.”
