It looked like Worsbrough Bridge Athletic were going to have a major say in the NCEL Division One promotion race as they surged into a 2-0 lead inside half an hour at Campion yesterday thanks to goals from Sam Corner and Shaun Mundy, but Aiden Day and Jason Davis levelled things up before Day struck again at the death to pinch the points for the home side, leaving Briggers Manager Lee Morris frustrated, writes Ian Robinson.
“I must sound like a broken record but we have to be more clinical. We could and should have been 5 or 6 up at half-time which is the game dead, but we weren’t and you let teams back in. We again should have had 3 in the second-half but failed to convert the chances we had and ultimately it cost us the game.”
“Fair play to Campion, they threw everything at us in the second-half and won the game. It’s been the story of our season, not good enough in both boxes which has cost us a lot of points, and those points would have seen us a lot higher in the league but you have to be ruthless and relentless to win these leagues.”
