It was derby day on Saturday as Barton Town hosted neighbours Bottesford Town and the sides battled out a well-contested 1-1 draw in front of a healthy crowd of 197.
Barton boss David Ricardo talked us through the game. “It was a slightly different game to the one I was expecting; and think it made in the main for a half decent game for the spectators. Bottesford I thought were going to go more direct than they did and looked to play.”
“We played some really good stuff first-half, but the curse that has been unfortunately around for the most of the season meant we missed 4/5 good chances throughout the game to win it. Both sides had a good shout for a penalty but in the end the deadlock couldn’t be broken.”
“The crowd was fantastic and again I’d like to thank all that made the journey as getting near 200 at this stage of the season shows commitment from the paying public.”
“I would also like to congratulate Worksop and Craig on winning the league with games to spare. If you had asked me 4 months ago I wouldn’t have said their name would be on the trophy, however, their level of consistency since has been superb and they deserve to test themselves in the EvoStik next season, congratulations to all involved with the club.”
