It has been a very on and off season for Patrick McGuire and his Thackley side but one he can be very proud of, and on Saturday they drew 2-2 with Handsworth Parramore at Sandy Lane in a cracking game watched by 82 spectators.
“At this stage of the season, it’s all about keeping players motivated. I obviously want us to amass as many points as possible but with us being well safe from the drop it allows me to give some game time to players that need it; and blood in some of the impressive youngsters at the club.”
“First-half I thought we were excellent. We played some good stuff and created some real clear cut chances which we didn’t take. The first-half performance shows me I have a good squad of players at the club. Unfortunately the second-half was reflective of our season – inconsistent, and we just didn’t seem to come out of the changing rooms. From dominating the first-half we left there lucky to get a point, with Luke Wilson making some fine saves.”
“With two games left I won’t let the lads ease up, but there may be opportunities for some players to show what they can do. We go into our last home game on Tuesday night against the Amma’s who’ve had a great first season in the Premier Division and it’d be nice to finish at Dennyfield with a win.”
