Pride and bragging rights at stake as 5th host 4th

Its 5th v 4th in Division One this evening as Nostell Miners Welfare welcome Winterton Rangers to Crofton, with both sides looking to finish excellent campaigns with a flourish, writes Ian Robinson.

Nostell Manager Jason Dodsworth is looking forward to the occasion, telling us, “it’s our last home game of the season, so hopefully we can finish with a win. It will be a tough game but I’m sure it will be a cracker. If we apply ourselves as we did last Friday, then we are more than capable.”

“I’d also like to say a big thanks to the fans that have supported us this season. We don’t get big crowds through the gate, but we’ve seen an increase this year; and hopefully more and more will start to come through the turnstiles. But for those that already do, we will do our best to finish our home season with a win for them.”

Meanwhile, Rangers Gaffer Scott Hellewell is hoping that his team can finish the season well and hopefully grab a coveted FA Cup spot for next term. “I’m looking forward to Wednesday night, it will be a very tough test and one I’m hoping our lads step up to. Recent performances haven’t been up to standard, but this is a game we know we need to win to get in the top four. I’m not sure if it’s true, but I’ve been told a top four place will be guaranteed an FA cup place, which is what we want back at the club.”

“Nostell will be after some revenge from their defeat earlier in the season, but we welcome back our top scorer Luke Anderson after a five match suspension. We have plenty of competition for places which isn’t always the case at this stage of a season, but it’s good to have headaches. There’s three games left and I want our lads to give it their all to finish as high as possible.”
