Bootiful Game man about town Steve Hewitt also took in Saturday’s clash between Swallownest and FC Bolsover at Rotherham Road. Here’s Steve’s take on the Toolstation NCEL Division One fixture.
FC Bolsover 2 Brett Lucas 51 Adam Lee 87
Without their leading goal scorer Jack Warwick and regular ‘keeper Adam Ledger, FC Bolsover were too much for an under par Swallownest side. An early corner for the visitors came to nothing and Adam Lee fired his shot wide of the goal in the early stages. Bolsover were clearly not here to make up the numbers but were saved on 9 minutes when Jay Short found the net for the hosts only to be flagged offside. Ollie Grady had a thirteenth minute shot well saved by visiting ‘keeper Chris Hinchcliffe.
Neither side could find a breakthrough and the first half ended without score.
The second-half saw Bolsover start the better of the two sides and they were rewarded on 51 minutes. A close-range header from Brett Lucas gave the visitors the lead. With Bolsover holding Swallownest at bay, Swallownest made a triple substitution. This had little impact and Bolsover remained in control of the game.
Things got silly on 80 minutes when a tussle between Jay Short and visiting ‘keeper Chris Hinchcliffe saw both get a straight red card. To make matters worse Adam Lee headed a second for Bolsover on 87 minutes to seal the victory. Swallownest were, as noted by a home supporter, very poor judging by this performance.
Swallownest complete their fixtures next week with a trip to Rossington Main (3pm).
