It’s been a busy day already for NCEL managers already this off season, but today we have seen Bill Gill leave Hall Road Rangers and now Leon Sewell has left East Yorkshire Carnegie for a switch to Rangers.
A statement from Hall Road says, “The club would like to introduce the new management team for next season.
Leon Sewell and Chris Burke will be taking control of the first team for the upcoming season. They join us after a successful season and great run for East Yorkshire Carnegie.
The club hope’s to retain the players that have been brought through the club and shown their dedication in the previous season. This is a new challenge for us and this is a fresh start.”
Chairman Darren Sunley said, “I welcome Leon and Chris into the club, not only to manage the first team but also to be involved with the other aspects of running a club. They have proven record and have a wealth of experience so I am excited for the year ahead as are the full committee.”
Leon Sewell added the following statement:
“First of all I must thank everyone involved with East Yorkshire Carnegie for making myself and Assistant Manager Chris Burke feel welcome at the club.
Discussions have happened very quickly and it’s all been a bit of a whirlwind experience for all parties.
It’s on to the next chapter in mine and Chris’ management career and was ultimately an opportunity we could not turn down. More so for myself playing at the club some 14 years ago.
Chris and I are looking forward to getting started, more so speaking with the club players from last season, of which it will be a blank canvas for both old and potential new players.
I’d also like to thank Darren and the club committee for showing their faith and trust in myself and Chris as we look to hit the ground running sooner rather than later.
I’m looking forward to meeting with all associated with the club and with the right togetherness, who knows what the forthcoming season will hold for us.”
