Oldham Athletic fan group “Push the Boundary” are calling on their fans to boycott the Latics’ game against Carlisle and have suggested they take their support to Non-League football.
The home clash with the Cumbrians on Saturday January 18 has been selected with PTB inviting other fans to join them instead at Avro’s game against Ashton Athletic at the Vestacare Stadium in the North West Counties Premier Division while also suggesting Chadderton’s game against Emley as an alternative in the NWCFL First Division North.
“In order to highlight our dissatisfaction with the lack of engagement and willingness to publicly acknowledge or address the concerns of fans by current ownership, we will be staging a mass boycott of Boundary Park against Carlisle United,” a statement read.
“We would encourage all pay on the day customers not to attend and for as many disgruntled season ticket holders to miss this one game.”
They have staged a pre-match protest and asked supporters not to purchase programmes, food and drink at Boundary Park already, and Push The Boundary are now taking their campaign against owner Abdallah Lemsagam to the next level.
In a recent survey completed by the independent supporters association, 58% are in support of a mass boycott of a game.
“We need our actions to jolt the decision makers into realising that fundamental changes are required at this football club and that as fans, we have a clear voice and that we will be heard”, the statement continued.
