The first goal of the game today came through ex-Cleethorpes Town striker Marc Cooper who smashed in a volley from the edge of the area. It become 2-0 in the 22nd minute when Josh Morrall scored from an unbelievable ball from Jack Debnam. The 0-3 scoreline was complete when Marc Cooper hit the post and the ball fell to Danny Trott who slotted the ball home.

Grimsby Borough joint manager Nathan Collins called it a ‘fantastic’ performance and added “it was fantastic from the whole squad today against a very good side from the league above and in all honesty we should have scored a few more goals, really happy with another clean sheet.

“We still have some quality players missing so everything is positive at the moment but nobody hands trophies out in August so we are not getting carried away, we have another tough game Tuesday night which is just as important as today.”
