Widdowson issues apology after Selby debacle

Having had time to reflect on his side’s 7-0 defeat at Selby Town yesterday, Shirebrook Town Manager Alan Widdowson has issued a heart felt apology to the Town faithful, writes Ian Robinson.

“I would like to apologise to the Committee and supporters of Shirebrook Town FC for that shambolic performance yesterday” he began. “We, as a group including myself and Lee, take full responsibility for that embarrassment.

“It was not acceptable at all and we will get the lads in midweek to have a chat and see how we can resolve this situation and then prepare for the game on Saturday. We need to get that Shirebrook spirit and heart back which has been lacking lately. It hurts to see that and we as a group are the only ones that can put it right.”

Hopefully for Alan, that fightback will start next weekend in the second leg of the Langwith Road derby against FC Bolsover when Town will be desperate to avenge last week’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of their near neighbours.
