Mascall takes up first ever management role

Marcus Newell, former Cleethorpes Town manager with Luke Mascall (Right).

Northern Premier League side Cleethorpes Town are absolutely delighted to announce that Luke Mascall has been appointed as Under 23 Team Manager for the 2019/20 season.

A statement from the club says, “Everyone at the Owls will know what Clee means to Luke and, with injury disrupting his playing career, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience life in the “hot-seat” of management.

Dave Smith provided the website with his reasoning for Luke’s promotion:

“Luke is out injured for the season, but wanted to be involved and give something back to the Club during his absence.

Over the last coupe of weeks, Luke and I have been discussing the role and how he can help develop our young players. We share the same vision and I am thrilled that he has accepted the position.

Luke will instantly command the respect of the youngsters. Due to his efforts over many years, he is rightly considered an Owls’ legend. An important element will be to fully liaise with our Reserve and Under 18 management teams. Luke has told me that he is committed to attending games and building strong relationships.

Please join me in congratulating “Masc” on the appointment and I am very much looking forward to working with him”.

Luke told us the following:

“The day that I found out from the surgeon that I wouldn’t be able to play this season, I knew that I needed something to get my teeth into.

What better way to do that than to work with the young Owls. I will try to help them progress to where they all want to be… and that is the first team!”

The very best of luck Luke!
